Compel in Almedalen 2024
During Almedalen Week, Compel participated in a discussion on the future of research and education: “Alone is strong? The need for a collaborative Swedish innovation and skills supply strategy”.

The conversation highlighted how new industrialization, geopolitical changes and the climate transition require new strategies for technology and skills development. The discussion focused on the government's investment in battery research and electrification, where Lund, Uppsala and Chalmers play key roles in the Compel initiative.
Elna Heimdal Nilsson, Coordinator of Compel at Lund University, spoke about Compel's progress and focus areas. She emphasized the importance of collaboration between academia, politics and industry:
– Almedalen Week was a great opportunity for Compel to discuss transport and energy linked to electrification and biofuels with stakeholders from authorities, industry organizations, universities and companies.
The panel discussion included Maria Nilsson, State Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Anders Hagfeldt, Dean of Uppsala University, Tuula Teeri, CEO of IVA, and Elna Heimdal Nilsson, Coordinator of Compel at Lund University. Professor Kristina Edström, Compel Coordinator at Uppsala University, was due to attend but was unable to make it and sent a video greeting to the participants.
