An excursion focusing on aerosol research

The profile area Aerosols focuses on strengthening its community and on promoting a better understanding of the members’ activities. As a part of this initiative, the profile area has arranged a day trip to Lund University's School of Aviation in Ljungbyhed and the ACTRIS measurement site Hyltemossa.

Around twenty profile area members from the Centre for Mathematics, Industrial and Mechanical Sciences, Physics, and Design Sciences, among others, took the opportunity and joined the excursion.

At Lund University's School of Aviation in Ljungbyhed, the newly established Jet Engine Lab was visited, where new biofuels are being tested. Changes in fuel composition will affect aerosol emissions, and researchers in the profile area will investigate this using aerosol instruments in the lab.

There was also a visit to the Drone Laboratory. In the future, there are plans to carry out aerosol measurements at Ljungbyhed with drones, among other things.

The excursion ended at the ACTRIS measurement site Hyltemossa where there are several ongoing projects with aerosol and trace gas measurements. ACTRIS is one of the key infrastructures in the profile area.
