Dean's blog: Autumn in Lund – and a journey that we embark on together
It is so heart-warming to see older students devote many hours of their spare time during the orientation period to make new students feel welcome and help them settle into their studies at LTH, writes LTH’s Dean Annika Olsson.
Dean's blog: "Thank you for your commitment and great efforts"
We have seen that you have all persevered, and that you have not only struggled on your own but also helped each other through several challenges this spring. That's what LTH's Dean Annika Olsson and Deputy Dean Heiner Linke write in a summer greeting to LTH's employees.
Dean's blog: "We will bring together the leading-edge competence of industry and academia"
How could we then, together, create virtuous circles and strengthen lifelong learning that will benefit individuals, companies, academia and by extension, society as a whole? The concept of affiliation that we have developed is, I think, something that deserves attention at the national level as well, writes Annika Olsson, LTH's dean.
The establishment of activities in Science Village is now taking shape
The Faculty of Science and Faculty of Engineering (LTH) are creating a joint office for campus development. We hope that all faculties will get involved in Science Village and identify opportunities associated with the University’s establishment in the area, write Sven Lidin and Annika Olsson, the deans of the Faculty of Science and LTH [...]
"Thank you and please continue to take good care of yourselves!"

Matilda Andersson, who is enrolled in the civil engineering programme in data technology at LTH, has been awarded "Tech Girl of the Year" by Microsoft. She wants to use the upcoming year to show that programming is a creative tool - which can be used to solve many different societal problems.
Fluorescent nanodiamonds successfully injected into living cells
As odd as it sounds, many scientists have attempted to place extremely small diamonds inside living cells. Why? Because nanodiamonds are consistently bright and can give us unique knowledge about the inner life of cells over a long time. Now physics researchers at Lund University in Sweden have succeeded in injecting a large number of nanodiamonds [...]
Recycled cotton becomes new fabric
A lot of us recycle our old textiles, but few of us know that they are very difficult to re-use, and often end up in landfills anyway. Now, researchers at Lund University's Faculty of Engineering LTH in Sweden have developed a method that converts cotton into sugar, that in turn can be turned into spandex, nylon or ethanol.

Karin Lovén recently defended her doctoral thesis in aerosol technology about how cleaning products affect the health of professional cleaners. Here, she lists facts about [...]
