Two joint Master’s programmes in engineering are labelled “success stories”
Both Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degrees at the Faculty of Engineering at Lund University have been labelled as “success stories” by the European Commission. The Master’s programme in Fire Safety Engineering (IMFSE) already received this label of quality last summer and the Master’s in Food Innovation and Product Design (FIPDes) recently received the same distinction from a panel of experts from the Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture at the European Commission.

The label “success story”
The European Commission defines “success stories” as finalised projects that have distinguished themselves by their impact, contribution to policy-making, innovative results and/or creative approach and that can be a source of inspiration for others. The selection of the two Master’s programmes was made based on rigorous criteria regarding their quality, relevance and results.
Master's programme in Fire Safety Engineering
IMFSE is organised jointly by Lund University, Ghent University (Belgium) and The University of Edinburgh (UK) and the consortium has three associated academic partners – ETH Zürich (Switzerland), The University of Queensland (Australia) and the University of Maryland (USA) – as well as 7 industrial partners. The three consortium universities are leading European institutions in the field of fire safety, providing both educational programmes and high-level research. This programme’s main objective is to create an educational programme that defines the knowledge required for a career as a professional fire safety engineer capable of Performance Based Design (PBD).

Master's programme in Food Innovation and Product Design
FIPDes is a collaboration between Lund University, AgroParisTech (France), UNINA (Italy) and DIT (Ireland) and has associated partners from Lebanon, Algeria, Tunisia, Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela and Korea. This Master’s aims to provide a European dimension in the knowledge-intensive area of food research and development and is highly relevant for both EU and third country students who wish to be employed in the agri-food and drink sector.
