Natxo Garcia, PhD student at the Department of Applied Physics and Electronics, Umeå University, will give a presentation on "Measuring biomass cookstoves emissions – Experiences from rural Rwanda".

Around 40 percent of the global population relies on rudimentary and highly polluting cookstoves to cover daily cooking and heating energy needs. The extended use of cooking with biomass is responsible for considerable health and environmental effects. Despite the efforts, little is known regarding particle emissions and their characteristics from emissions related to biomass cooking. The knowledge gap needs to be filled by both laboratory and field studies. 

In this seminar, Natxo García will share some experiences of performing experimental research in rural Rwanda. Natxo is a PhD candidate at TEC-Lab (Thermochemical Energy Conversion Laboratory), Umeå University.
