COMPUTE Autumn Meeting "Professional Communication"
Effective communication is essential for PhD students and researchers, both when transitioning from academia to industry and when advancing within academic careers. The workshop will focus on key skills like mastering rhetoric for persuasive presentations, pitching your research and yourself to non-expert audiences, and communicating effectively with recruiters and during job interviews. This training will empower you to articulate your ideas clearly, stand out in competitive job markets, and confidently navigate professional communication and networking. The workshop will be followed by an informal poster session with pizza and networking.
The 2024 COMPUTE Autumn Meeting will take place on November 28th, as a fika-to-pizza event. This event is made possible through the support of the LU eScience Hub, which is part of the eSSENCE Strategic Research Area.
The event is open to all PhD students and staff at Lund University.

Part 1. Workshop on professional communication
Part 2. Poster session and networking
There will be ample time for networking and a poster session in the evening. To facilitate the discussion we strongly encourage attendents to present a poster about their research. Poster should be aimed at the other COMPUTE members. You should bring posters that are understandable to students and scientists from completely different fields or even members of the general public. You can use scientific terms if it is necessary but make sure to introduce them well. A popular science poster would also work well. If you do not have time to prepare a poster for a general scientific audience, you can bring a regular scientific poster.
Poster should preferably be in vertical format. It is not necessary to use the Lund University templates for the poster. If you did not register for a poster but want to bring one anyway, you can do that.
