How we work with gender equality, equal opportunities and diversity

At LTH, we strive to be a place where everyone feels welcome, safe, and respected. We actively work with gender equality, equal opportunities, and diversity to create an inspiring environment for both students and staff.

Gender equality and equal opportunities (Staff Pages)

Our values

Gender equality, equal opportunities, and diversity are fundamental principles that underpin everything we do. We believe that diversity strengthens us as an organisation and is essential for fostering a creative and inspiring work and study environment. We work to ensure that everyone has equal opportunities for career development, studies, and personal growth.

Proactive measures

To make a difference in everyday life, we work systematically and preventively against discrimination (SFAD). This means that we:

  • Identify risks that may affect gender equality and inclusion.
  • Develop action plans and set objectives that are followed up annually.
  • Organise activities to strengthen engagement in these issues.

Support functions and collaboration

To keep our work on gender equality and diversity active, we have several groups and functions that support our departments and divisions:

  • Management group for gender equality, equal opportunities and diversity (LG JäLM)
Provides advice and support to management and allocates resources for various initiatives.
    Chair: johan.revstedt@energy.lth.se
  • JäLM representatives
Present at each department to support local development efforts.
  • Study social council (STRÅ)
Works on behalf of the Education Board (LG GU) with students’ working environment and equal opportunities.
  • SFAD coordinator (for employees): camilla.stellgren@lth.lu.se
  • Coordinator for students’ working environment and equal opportunities: ida.jackson@lth.lu.se

Why is this important to us?

"Actively promoting gender equality, equal opportunities, and diversity not only fosters a better working environment but also reduces sick leave and cultivates a culture where everyone feels safe, included, and empowered. To me, it is crucial that we view ourselves as part of each other’s work environment—we share a collective responsibility to make it thrive. Together, we are so much stronger!"
