Lund University, Faculty of Engineering LTH, has until 2016 the presidency of the network Magalhães which gathers 16 leading universities in Latin America and 19 in Europe. The network aims to strengthen collaboration in education and research in engineering and architecture between the continents. LTH co-founded the network in 2005.
The network includes eight of the top ten universities in Latin America, for example, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Universidade de São Paulo in Brasilien, Universidad de Los Andes in Colombia and Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México.
The network provides the opportunity for LTH students to study at Latin America's best technical universities, and annually at least 15 engineering students go on exchange to preferably Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia or Peru. Magalhães also organizes collaboration between researchers in thematic areas such as aerospace.
