International award to food technology students
We congratulate team Moringau from LTH and Lund University to win first prize in IFTSA Developing Solutions for Developing Countries competition.

The team members are: Cynthia Andriani, M.Sc Food Technology and Nutrition, Ashri Nugrahini, M.Sc Food Innovation and Product Design and Mushonnifun Faiz Sugihartanto, M.Sc Logistics and Supply Chain Management. Their project is called Moringau: "Instant 'xima' to Alleviate Children Malnutrition Related Problem in Mozambique". In this project, they propose a sustainable and nutritious staple food targeting children in Mozambique with malnutrition. It is adapted from Mozambican traditional stiff porridge and made of maize, groundnut, cassava, sorghum, cowpeas, moringa, seasoning, and fortificants. The product "Moringau" is a "ready to cook" instant porridge.
"Developing Solutions for Developing Countries" is an annual competition held by IFTSA (International Food Technology Student Association). Every year, students from around the world are competing to promote the application of food science and technology, and the development of new products and processes targeted at improving the quality of life for people in developing countries. This year, competition participants was asked to create a nutritious food product targeting a developing country and addressat at least two of the United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
We congratulate Team Moringau to the first prize, receiving a diploma and USD 3,000, together with a travel grant of USD 1,500.
