Compel, ‘COMPetence for the ELectrification of the transport system’, is a strategic initiative from the Swedish government to strengthen research and education environments in battery technology and electrification. Lund University, Chalmers University of Technology and Uppsala University, in collaboration with key actors in Swedish industry, are participating in this initiative to promote Sweden's leading role in the field.
At Lund University, Compel has identified three strategic research areas for development:
- materials research
- integration of batteries with power electronics
- safe energy storage
The PhD positions are central to ensuring continued innovation and knowledge development in these areas.
The six PhD positions now being advertised are (please note that the positions are posted in Swedish):
- PhD in technology and society: sustainable value chains for battery industries
- PhD in energy sciences with a focus on grid integration of batteries
- PhD in electrical engineering focussing on next generation semiconductor devices for power electronics
- PhD in physics specialising in the study of Li-ion batteries in thermal runaway
- PhD in energy sciences focusing on CFD and data-driven modelling of batteries
- PhD in physics specialising in the development of next-generation semiconducting materials with ultra-large bandgaps
In addition to these positions, two research environments will be strengthened with three positions each, with two senior research positions in the process of getting filled. The aim is to further advance and innovate battery research at LTH. This investment offers a platform for researchers to contribute to crucial advances in battery technology, and strengthens Sweden's role as a global leader in electrification and sustainable technology.
Don’t miss this chance to become part of a dynamic research environment with a major impact on the technologies of the future.
