Funding to project about ultrasound-based method to detect plaques that cause strokes
Ten projects in life science, with the aim to develop an academic discovery towards an innovation and a product, receive Proof of Concept funding from Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation in the first call. One of the projects is related to the LTH profile area Engineering health: Novel ultrasound-based method to detect atherosclerotic plaques that cause strokes and heart attacks.

Magnus Cinthio, Isabel Goncalves, and Tobias Erlöv at the department of Biomedical Engineering, LTH, have been awarded funding of MSEK 3 during 2024-2025 for the project which will be implemented in cooperation with Clinical Sciences at Lund University and Region Skåne.
Magnus Cinthio says:
"In collaboration with LU Innovation, Lund, we have initiated the development of a strategy aimed at ensuring the successful commercialization and global use of our novel method. The KAW Proof of Concept Grant will allow us to build a prototype that enables real-time imaging as well as to conduct more in vivo studies."
